The halls of Visayas State University (VSU) resounded with pride as the alumni community embraced the return of a distinguished figure, Police Brigadier General Chito Galvez Bersaluna. General Bersaluna was warmly received by the PNP Baybay, esteemed former professors Dr. Manuel K. Palomar, Dr. Alili Villocino, Dr. Dilberto O. Patindol, and Dr. Maria Juliet C. Ceniza, alongside friends from VSU, including former VSU President Hon. Jose L. Bacusmo – now a Baybay City Councilor and General Bersaluna’s fraternity brother.
The Director for Alumni and Community Relations Office, Prof. Corazon A. Padilla, was also present to extend a warm welcome to the accomplished alumnus.
A graduate of the then Visayas State College of Agriculture (ViSCA), General Bersaluna majored in entomology, leaving an indelible mark with his dedication and hard work. His remarkable journey from our campus to becoming the Deputy Director of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Directorate of Operations is nothing short of inspiring.
In the spirit of camaraderie, a delightful get-together dinner party was hosted by Batch 1985, creating an atmosphere filled with laughter, shared memories, and celebrations of General Bersaluna’s accomplishments. The event was a testament to the enduring bonds forged during their time at VSU.
The VSU alumni community takes immense pride in General Bersaluna’s achievements, highlighting the university’s commitment to producing leaders who impact their respective fields positively. General Bersaluna’s stories are set to be featured in the upcoming Alumni coffee table book, scheduled for launch during VSU’s centennial anniversary next year. This book will showcase inspiring narratives of alumni who have made significant contributions across diverse fields, further solidifying the legacy of VSU as an institution of excellence and leadership. Stay tuned for more exciting updates as we prepare to commemorate a century of educational excellence and alumni success.
