We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Daniel Leslie S. Tan, a distinguished alumnus of Visayas State University (VSU), has been appointed as the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) President of the VSU system, effective October 29, 2023. Dr. Tan, a proud Visayan who completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at VSU, previously served as the Vice President for Administration and Finance.
With an illustrious career as a University Professor at the Philippine Root Crop Research and Training Center (PhilRootcrops), Dr. Tan is recognized for his exceptional contributions to agricultural sciences. His expertise includes being a multi-awarded researcher, patent inventor, and utility model developer, particularly in the vacuum frying process of root crop commodities.
As he assumes this crucial role in the university’s administration, Dr. Tan calls upon the VSU community, including faculty, staff, students, and alumni, to actively collaborate during this transitional period. Expressing gratitude for the trust placed in him, he emphasizes the importance of continuity and growth as VSU approaches its grand centennial year.
